Tannie Koekie
Acrylic on Canvas (600cmx600cm)
Finalist in the Tasman National Art Award 2023!
This was another gem I found in my mom’s box of old photo’s - This is my Auntie Koekie. One of my dad’s older sisters - I just love the way she is portrayed as this strong woman with her apron on and driving a tractor - it really shows how pioneering these people had to be back in the day - you had to do everything to be self-sufficient in those wild and wide-open spaces - Town was a long way away and they only visited maybe once or twice a month.
