Die Boksers (SOLD)
Acrylic on Canvas: (760mm x 1020mm)
Finalist in the Tasman National Art awards 2023!.
I’ve been going through some old photo’s of my family when i stumbled upon this beauty! The photo was taken on our farm, Palmietspruit, in the Free State, South Africa - showing the “old house” still, dating it to the early 1940’s perhaps. They must have been family members posing for this shot. I just love the shoes and the stance - it sure looks like they know what they are doing haha! It makes me wonder who took the photo? And where did they get the gear from and what made them pose for this photo or were they actually having a go?
Even though the image is in black and white only I can still remember (and smell) the arm air and the pale colours of the vast an open highveld of the Free State.
I really enjoyed painting this one and look forward to adding to this collection of images from my past.
